GOT7 - Look
Got7 is back, this time with EP, Eyes on You, featuring title track "Look.” As we spoke about in the review of their 7 for 7 album, the boys are continuing to have more and more creative control in their albums. “Look,” was partially composed and produced by DefSoul, the producer pseudonym of JB, leader of Got7. In fact, most of the seven tracks on this mini album were created in collaboration with the members.
“Look” brings a lot of different sounds to the table, ranging from tropical house to electro pop to dubstep. The arrangement of the chorus is reminiscent of disco songs from the 70’s. And yet, surprisingly, it all works. The song is extremely catchy and the MV is an aesthetic dream, from the scenery to the members themselves. And for some reason, that choreography during the chorus is so satisfying to watch! Gotta love me some fancy footwork.

Jung Ilhoon - She Gone
Oh boy, do I love this song. The combination of bluesy guitar, plus the modulation of Ilhoon’s voice, and crescendo into a full rock chorus just hits all the sweet spots. Ilhoon, of BToB fame, dropped this subtle banger of a song last week as his solo debut track. Although he’s long been collaborating with artists in the business, this single accompanies his first mini-album, Big Wave.
Check out the MV in which Ilhoon and company wreak havoc in the neighborhood, dressed in some of the greatest outfits I’ve seen this year. Ilhoon's lyrics are a bitter goodbye to someone who didn’t want to be with him anyway. He sarcastically hopes this person “lives well,” ready to brush off this love as if it never happened. And there's nothing like a little raucous fun with your friends to forget about how someone has hurt you. “She’s Gone” is a strong debut from Ilhoon and I look forward to his future works!

Suho x Jane Jang - Dinner
Suho of EXO and Jane Jang, solo artist, teamed up for two songs this March. The first, “Do You Have A Moment” was released on March 9th, followed by “Dinner,” on March 10th. In “Dinner," the two singers’ voices combine for a smooth, velvety track, backed by a soft synth pop beat.
While “Do You Have A Moment” spoke about the exciting, nerve wracking moments of new love, “Dinner,” is a heart wrenching look at when love runs out. Suho and Jane Jang sing about sitting across from the other at dinner night after night, but always feeling alone. As time goes by, attraction and love can fade, or as Suho sings, “She’s not enough to get him intoxicated.” Ouch.

Monogram – Space Travel
Monogram debuted late last year with their short, two-track EP, Diary, and now they're back with their second, slightly longer EP, Space Travel. The indie duo’s new album reminds me a lot of AKMU’s ballad side, and includes five new tracks, including title track “Space Travel” and a solo for both members, Riwon and Kevin.
“Space Travel” is a love song true to the atmospheric sound that they’ve presented so far. Riwon and Kevin’s voices compliment each other beautifully. Their give and take verses pair well against the orchestral backdrop. The lyrics sing of a love that makes you feel lighter than air, that makes you want to dance until morning, and that makes you feel awe that such a love between two people can exist in such a wide universe.
