Suzy - SObeR

Why do we all love Suzy so much? It's really not that difficult a question to answer when she puts out tracks like this one. "SObeR," in accordance with its tipsy spelling, expresses that unique feeling of fearlessness a few cocktails can give you. Suzy croons to her crush, asking them to declare their feelings to her, all set over a poppy backing track. It is only at the end that Suzy reveals she is totally sober, using the excuse of being drunk to shamelessly ask if her crush likes her. "SObeR" is sweet, funny, sassy, and a little bit bitter. It is quintessentially Suzy.

A multi-talented personality, I find that her many areas of expertise really help her excel in everything she does. Her acting skills elevate her MVs above the rest (see "I'm In Love With Someone Else." If you ever wondered what it was like to break up with Suzy, this MV will do it). And her idol status brings confidence and attitude to her numerous drama roles. She clearly was born to be in the spotlight and we can't get enough.

Kassy - I Want Love

Last month, rookie artist Kassy dropped a MV for her recent song, “I Want Love.” The Unpretty Rapstar 3 artist had previously released singles, covers, and collabs, but this title track comes from the drop of her first mini album on January 18.

“I Want Love” is a subtle R&B dance track that fuses electronica with a killer orchestra-led backtrack. A violin opens the song and leads into a great urban chorus. With lyrics by Kassy herself, she sings of losing the spark between lovers.

The rest of the tracks on the I Want Love EP don’t stand out quite like the title track, but they’re definitely worth checking out if you like groovy R&B and urban slow jams. I’m looking forward to seeing how Kassy develops her identity has an R&B artist.

Samuel - Thousand Times

Despite not making the cut for Wanna One, Samuel has continued to see success in the music industry. He released "Thousand Times" on February 12th, as the second OST for the drama, Cross. The song is melancholy and speaks of wandering down mysterious paths, unable to find the correct one. A piano is the highlight of the instrumental backing, with a basic yet memorable melody - a perfect combination for a drama. The moment that grabbed me was the gentle swell in the bridge and Samuel's intonation of 'Say my name, say my name.'

"Thousand Times" is a perfect OST for a drama - memorable to the ear and able to evoke emotion in the listener. I'm happy to see Samuel progressing steadily in his career!

OFFONOFF - film roll

I love aesthetic music videos, so OFFONOFF is really sliding right into my heart with "film roll." OFFONOFF consists of producer and rapper, 0channel and singer/songwriter, Colde. They are part of the hip hop collective, Club Eskimo, a group that also includes Dean and Crush. "film roll" is a chill ride through an urban scene, with ambient instrumental strumming along in the background. The MV is simple, but beautiful, full of soft yellow street lights and night time blues.

If you like this relaxed sound, have a look at OFFONOFF's song, "Cigarette," featuring Tablo and Miso.
