The big themes over the last week? Comebacks and debuts.
Red Velvet released their fifth mini album, The Red Summer and it quickly took over domestic and international charts.
Shortly after the album's released, it topped iTunes Worldwide Album Charts in eight countries – the highest charting debut ever for a Korean girl group's album. And the title track, "Red Flavor," soared to No. 1 on Korean charts, including Melon and Naver.
The albums physical sales also took the No. 1 spots on Hanteo and Synnara. Now we just have to see if these sales translate to another No. 1 spot on Billboard's World Album chart.
Red Velvet's label mate EXO started releasing teasers for their highly anticipated fourth full album, The War. Not only has EXO been trending on Twitter, fans overloaded Synnara's servers trying to pre-order the album.
EXO will be missing one member during promotions – Lay. Last month, EXO's label SM Entertainment confirmed that because of Lay's preexisting schedules in China, he won't be participating in the comeback. No official word on whether he'll be in the music video for the lead single "KoKoBop."
But EXO has been dominating Twitter trends since joining the social media platform earlier this month. And if Twitter is any indication, this EXO comeback could be their biggest yet.
KARD is (finally) gearing up for their official debut On July 19 with their first EP Hola Hola.
On December 13, 2016, KARD released their first single, "Oh NaNa." Since then, the group has released two more singles and exploded in popularity. They've even held a tour -- called WILD KARD -- before they've officially debuted.
After their debut, the WILD KARD tour will continue with dates added in the U.S. We can't wait to see what this group has in store for the future.
If you missed Produce 101 Season 2... Where have you been?! After the finale of the latest of this band survival reality show, social media exploded with anticipation for the debut of the winners chosen to form the new boy group, Wanna One.
Less than a month after the show's finale, it was announced that Wanna One will debut on August 7. They'll also have their own reality show airing in August. And there will be plenty of people to watch. After just a month on twitter, the members' shared twitter account - @WannaOne_twt - has already gained nearly 400 thousand fans. Theirs could be one of the biggest debuts this summer!
ONE's highly anticipated debut happened this week with two title tracks, "Heyahe" and "Gettin' By".
ONE (Jung Jaewon) hit everyone's radar back in 2015 when he appeared on the rap competition TV show, Show Me The Money 4. At the time, he was signed with Brave Entertainment and had already debuted under hip-hop duo, 1PUNCH -- which the other half, Samuel (most known from Produce 101 Season 2), is actually debuting solo next month!
After the show ended, ONE joined YG and reappeared the next year on Show Me The Money 5, placing tenth overall in the season. Since then, he's been serving us visual after visual for the past two weeks, revving us up for his highly anticipated debut album One Day.
JJCC might not have one of the hottest comebacks of the summer, but we're excited. A few days ago, JJCC announced on their YouTube channel they would comeback soon, although no official date has been announced. The group is also two members down (sorta).
Oldest member E.co will be missing the comeback. He started his mandatory military service in March 2017.
The other missing member has been missing for a while now.
On his radio show, Prince Mak said he "never officially left JJCC," but that he doesn't have plans to promote with the group. Mak mentioned that while he's no longer managed by Jackie Chan Group Korea (JJCC's management company in Korea) he is still with its Chinese counterpart.
It's been two years since JJCC released an album, but with a tour in the U.S. next month, we're hoping to hear new music from them soon.
